MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
Myofascial Release is a safe and highly effective applied technique that includes a light and continuous pressure on Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to relieve pain and restore movement.
Myofascial Release is a safe and highly effective applied technique that includes a light and continuous pressure on Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to relieve pain and restore movement. This basic ‘time element’ relates to the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: the slow applied low load (light pressure) allows the viscoelastic environment (fascia) to be elongated.
Trauma, inflammatory responses and / or surgical procedures create Myofascial constraints that can produce tensile pressures of about 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain-sensitive structures not shown in many standardized tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans). (electromyography, etc.)
The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are applied therapies that our therapists use numerous Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. We encourage independence through training in appropriate body mechanics and movement, self-treatment instruction, increased strength, improved flexibility and postural and movement awareness.
Applied Treatment
Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on the skin without oil, cream or machine. This allows the therapist to accurately detect facial restrictions and to apply appropriate amounts of continuous pressure to facilitate fascia release.
